EATING DISORDER ONLINE GROUP THERAPY SESSIONS

Upcoming interactive webinar series for carers & clients

Discover the power of including supports in eating disorder treatment.

Our online webinar series is based on evidence based eating disorder treatment principles, adopting principles of Cognitive Based Therapy – Enhanced, Family Based Therapy & Temperament-Based Therapy with Supports (TBT-S).

Many eating disorder treatments focus on symptom elimination rather than focusing on the root causes.

The TBT-S perspective is that eating disorders are biologically based illnesses that can be better understood through understanding and targeting the individual’s unique temperament. TBT-S does this by addressing neurobiological alterations, treating to the traits, and including supports.

TBT-S is not a stand-alone therapy, rather it forms a solid platform for both the client and their supports to grow from while undergoing other forms of therapy.

Register your interest for our upcoming online group therapy sessions which will address neurobiological alterations, tailoring treatment to traits, and specifically how your supports can assist in the recovery journey.

Sessions will be facilitated by experienced psychologists and dieticians.

(1) TBT-S: Written by Laura Hill, PhD, LLC, Ohio, USA; Stephanie Peck, PhD and Christina Wierenga, PhD, UC San Diego, California, USA.

Contact us on 1300 235 040 or register your interest here to receive further details. We will contact you to discuss participation requirements, upcoming session dates and Medicare rebate eligibility.

Webinar Series FAQs

The webinar series consists of five one-hour sessions that will be held across five consecutive weeks. The sessions will be held after-hours to accommodate for those of you with commitments during working hours

For existing clients who have attended a minimum of three individual sessions and have ongoing appointments booked, there is no cost to join this program.

The cost of the webinar is $60 per session for non existing clients. Medicare rebates are not available unless you are located in a telehealth eligible area. We have reduced costs of session attendance to accommodate for this.

No. Except for ARFID, the group series is appropriate for people of all diagnoses.

The group series is appropriate for people 16 years and over.

While we strongly encourage you to attend all five sessions, it is not mandatory to do so.

If for example you cannot attend session #3, you are still welcome to attend sessions 4 & 5. We will give you the option of joining the missed session in the next group round pending group availability. We ask that you give us 48hrs notice if you cannot attend a session.

When you hear the words “group therapy” you probably imagine talking about your experiences and your individual eating disorder journey. However, our group therapy looks a little different to this. Each week we have a dedicated topic (neurobiology of eating disorders, understanding how personality traits can be used to help or hinder recovery, support skills, biological approach to food, and a Q&A session with a psychologist and a dietitian), which will be presented by psychologists (sessions 1,2,3 & 5) and dietitians (sessions 4 & 5). A large part of the series will be us teaching you and your support people skills to support your recovery. We will also ask you to engage in some activities to facilitate your learning, however these will not involve you having to disclose personal information to other group participants.

You can bring up to 2 support people with you. If you are under the age of 18, at least one of your supports must be a parent or guardian. Other supports may include friends, partners, siblings, colleagues, aunts or uncles… it doesn’t really matter what their relationship to you is, if they support you then you can bring them!
