Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Both are autoimmune diseases with an unknown aetiology. Symptoms can include abdominal pain, bowel movement disturbance, weight loss and nutritional deficiency.

Disruption of the gut microbiome is influenced by diet and has been linked to the pathogenesis of Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Diet is an important consideration in the management of the gut microbiome and nutritional deficiencies.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

Irritable bowel syndrome is a group of functional gastrointestinal symptoms that can include disturbance in bowel movements, abdominal pain, nausea and bloating and often impairs an individual’s quality of life. These symptoms occur without any visible signs of disease of your digestive tract.

Our dieticians are experienced to help you achieve optimal gut health and ease your IBS symptoms. Strategies will differ depending on the specific needs of the patient but may include alterations to FODMAPs, gluten, fructose, fibre and food chemicals.

Working collaboratively with one of our dietitians can help:

  • Identify foods that lead to your symptoms

  • Tailor your diet to ensure your nutritional requirements are met

  • Assist with nutrition strategies for diarrhoea/constipation

  • Manage eating strategies

Coeliac Disease

Coeliac disease is a chronic digestive and immune condition that results in damage to the small intestine and is triggered by eating foods which contain gluten.

Nutritional expertise is important to allow you to most effectively manage this condition. In combination with your doctor, we can help you to plan for your nutritional requirements to ensure you are having the nutrients you need.

Nicole is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with extra training in the Non-diet approach. She has developed skills in how to help people heal their relationship with food, mind and their body. She is passionate about guiding clients through letting go of the dieting mindset, to making peace with food once and for all. She incorporates the Health At Every Size (HAES®) and the Non-Diet approach (Intuitive eating) principles to direct her practice.
