ISABELLA SMITH
Provisional Psychologist – Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours)
Isabella is a provisional psychologist, currently completing her Master of Clinical Psychology. Isabella is undertaking her third and final placement at Glynn Mind Clinic.
Isabella has been fortunate to have been able to work with individuals across the lifespan, with most of her experience working with teenagers and early adults. Isabella has worked with presentations such as generalised anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, ADHD support, PTSD and attachment related distress, with the primary goal of building capacity and enriching lives.
Isabella incorporates evidence-based practice with a holistic sense of wellbeing, rooted in values-based intervention. With an emphasis on mindfulness and emotion regulation, Isabella supports individuals to work with their values, passions and goals to ultimately get back to a life worth living, that is authentic and genuine to them.
While Isabella is still in her early career stage, she is interested in working with families, supporting effective communication, restoring family functioning and improving relationships. Isabella completed her thesis in Attachment Theory (University of Newcastle, 2023); exploring the links between attachment styles and overall wellbeing/ life satisfaction. Isabella comes to her work with a strong sense of relational underpinnings and therefore exploring the importance and impacts of core relationships in one’s life.
Isabella is a warm and open clinician, who prioritises the therapeutic relationship with all clients. Isabella’s therapeutic approach is rooted in compassion, honesty and a empathy, forever striving to imbue her clients with self-esteem, confidence in their abilities and overall self-mastery. While away from work, Isabella enjoys cooking big meals for her family and friends and long, slow walks in nature.
Isabella has received training in Family Based Therapy (FBT) and foundational training in eating disorders. She also has experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).
