Laini is a registered psychologist who is passionate about providing evidence-based psychological treatments to children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. She has a special interest in helping and supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders and/or disordered eating, as well as working with children, adolescents, and young adults. Laini also has experience helping people with anxiety, panic disorder, body dysmorphia, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, low self-esteem, bipolar II disorder, adjustment disorder, low self-esteem, stress, and specific phobias.
Laini completed a thesis in her honours degree on exploring whether dichotomous thinking was a risk factor for developing an eating disorder and/or disordered eating. She has a Master of Professional Psychology degree and eating disorder credentials with Australia & New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED). She has her general registration as a psychologist at the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and abides by Australian Psychological Society (APS) professional conduct codes and standards. She has over 2 years of experience specialising in eating disorders including anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia nervosa (BN), binge eating disorder (BED), avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). Laini is trained in a variety of evidence-based treatments like enhanced cognitive behaviour for eating disorders (CBT-E), family based treatment (FBT), specialist supportive clinical management (SSCM), cognitive behaviour therapy for ARFID (CBT-AR), etc.
Laini has a kind, and gentle nature, and is committed to providing a compassionate, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic care for her clients. She strives to build strong rapport with her clients through being genuine, honest, and empathetic. Laini emphasises establishing a non-judgement and safe space for her clients. Away from her clinical work, Laini loves horror movies and enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and cat. She also has a deep love for vanilla chai lattes.
