LORYN SMITH

Loryn is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) and holds a Master of Dietetics and a Bachelor in Applied Science from La Trobe University. Loryn is an empathetic and warm Dietitian who loves supporting individuals of all ages and walks of life. Loryn holds an interest in paediatric feeding challenges such as restrictive and sensory eating, particularly with a neurodiversity-affirming lense (ADHD, ASD). Loryn also enjoys supporting individuals with eating disorders and has training in Family based Therapy as well as gut disorders such as IBS and IBD.
Loryn has had extensive experience in supporting families with restrictive feeding challenges from all walks of life. She has had experience working with both children and adults struggling with disordered eating thought patterns intertwined within gut-related challenges. Loryn has a special interest in the gut microbiome including the interplay between the gut-brain connection for both children and adults, with a trained background in the role of FODMAPs and gut-directed hypnotherapy. She is passionate about taking a client-centred and health at every size (HAES) approach. She is currently completing her accreditation to become an Eating Disorder Credentialed Dietitian.
In addition, Loryn has first-hand experience with food intolerances and IBS, where she has developed great insight and understanding in how this can affect someone in all areas of life. Through this lived experience she can show a deeper level of empathy to those who require support in navigating the health challenges that IBS brings.
