MICHELLE OATEN

Registered Psychologist: B.Arts Psych & IR, BPsycSc(Hons)

Michelle is a fully registered psychologist with extensive experience in both urban and rural settings, specializing in the treatment of adolescents and adults. Her therapeutic approach is person-centred and collaborative, characterized by empathy, non-judgment and authenticity.

Employing an integrative framework, Michelle combines various modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, attachment theory, parts work, mindfulness, and self-compassion techniques. This tailored approach allows her to address the unique needs and therapeutic objectives of each individual.

Michelle’s interest in family dynamics, influenced by her own experience as a twin, enhances her understanding of how familial relationships impact one’s life journey.

Her expertise spans a range of mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety disorders, stress management, low self-esteem, body image issues, perfectionism, and relationship difficulties. Michelle also specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma resolution.

Michelle is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and upholds the highest ethical standards as outlined by the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Recently relocating from the Gold Coast back to her hometown of Melbourne, Michelle is diving headfirst into rediscovering the city. She is particularly focused on finding new tracks to take her rollerblades for a spin.
