NIKI NAJAFI
Clinical Psychology Registrar, BPsych (Hons) (Cognitive Neuroscience), MPsych (Clin), MAPS
Niki is a registered Psychologist, a Clinical Psychology Registrar and an Eating Disorder credentialed clinician (ANZEAD). She uses a warm and collaborative approach that aims to empower her clients in making steps towards recovery. Niki utilises an empathetic approach and transparency to create a safe space for her clients. She has a focus on providing an inclusive and holistic care that is individualised to the need of each person.
Niki has a particular interest in working to improve body acceptance and enhance relationship with food and eating. She enjoys working with a diverse range of presentations and people of all bodies, genders and abilities. Niki is neurodiverse affirming and practices from an inclusive Health at Every Size (HAES) framework. Niki works alongside her clients to make meaningful changes in their life and promotes developing a positive relationship with their eating and body.
Niki has her general registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and abides by Australian Psychological Society (APS) professional conduct codes and standards.
Niki values working as a part of a multidisciplinary team as this can enhance outcomes and experiences for her clients. She is trained in a variety of evidenced based treatments such as Enhanced cognitive behaviour for eating disorders (CBT-E), Family-based treatment (FBT), Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM), cognitive behaviour therapy for ARFID (CBT-AR), etc.
She has experience working across multiple settings including academia, schools, community-based NGO, hospital inpatient program and private practice.
As well as eating disorders, Niki has experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma, bringing a trauma-informed lens into her practice. Niki also has experience helping people who experience Anxiety and mood disorders, such as depression, and bipolar disorders. She has also worked with individuals struggling with low self-esteem, alcohol and other drugs, and PTSD.
Away from her clinical work, Niki is a massive animal lover. She will stop to pat all the dogs in her path. She enjoys spending time with her family, and friends and is a Pilates enthusiast.
